Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro rumours

Although the release of Google’s next flagship Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro handsets isn’t anticipated for a little while, there have already been a number of rumours that speculate on what they may have. We’ve compiled our expectations for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro’s successors as well as any rumours that may be floating around. The gadgets are allegedly known as Shiba (Pixel 8) and Huskey (Pixel 8 Pro). Here are all the things we have learned thus far.
Date and cost of the Pixel 8 release

In October 2023, Google is most likely to introduce the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. However, October has consistently been Google’s month of choice for some years running. Of course, nothing is official just yet, and it won’t be for some time.

We would anticipate that the devices will go on sale a few weeks after their announcement, most likely before the end of October 2023.

While the Pixel 7 Pro starts at £849 in the UK, $899 in the US, and €899 in Europe, which was the same as the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, the Pixel 7 starts at £599 in the UK, $599 in the US, and €649 in Europe. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro should not be too far apart, although it is not yet apparent if we can anticipate them to fall within the same range.

Pixel 8: A more smaller Pixel 8 Pro: A display with a curve

Though it has been suggested that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro designs may not veer too far from the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, there haven’t been many rumours about them up to this point. In the middle of 2022, Google previewed the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro designs at its I/O developer conference; it’s probable that the firm will do the same for the 2023 devices to avoid any significant leaks.

There are presently no official details or leaked renders (Intentional or unintentional) of the smartphones, but a rumour that the Pixel 8 will be smaller and feature a more compact design factor than the Pixel 7.

If the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, the rear-mounted camera housing, under-display fingerprint sensor, and centre punch-hole camera will probably all remain. The Pixel 8 will probably still have a flat screen, unlike the 8 Pro, which probably has a curved screen.

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are anticipated to share the IP68 water and dust resistance of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Pixel 8 Display

6.3-inch, Full HD+, 90Hz Pixel 8 model?
6.7-inch, Quad HD+, 10-120Hz Pixel 8 Pro?

Other than a rumour describing the possible resolutions the smartphones would provide, there haven’t been any reports regarding the displays of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro up to this point. The Pixel 8 will reportedly sport a 2268 x 1080 screen, while the Pixel 8 Pro will switch to a 2822 x 1344 screen. We would take that with a grain of salt for the time being because this sounds a little strange, especially in the case of the Pixel 8 Pro.

The Pixel 7 features a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, while the Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.7-inch screen with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels. The Pixel 7 features a refresh rate of 90Hz, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro has a refresh rate that can be adjusted from 10Hz to 120Hz.

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro may or may not maintain the same screen specifications as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, respectively, but we would anticipate that they will, and we believe that the rumour regarding the 8 Pro’s display resolution is improbable.

Pixel 8 Hardware specifications

Google Tensor G3 Pixel 8: up to 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM
Pixel 8 Pro: up to 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM

The Google Tensor G2 chip powers both the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, and rumours suggest that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will use the chip’s upcoming iteration, code-named Zuma.

We would anticipate that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro would have similar memory sizes to the Pixel 7, which has 8GB, and the Pixel 7 Pro, which has 12GB. Additionally, we anticipate the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will have storage capacities of at least 256GB and 512GB, respectively, and we do not anticipate the inclusion of microSD capability on any of them.

However, the Pixel 7 has a 4355mAh battery and supports 20W fast charging, while the Pixel 7 Pro has a 5000mAh battery and supports up to 23W fast charging. There are presently no rumours regarding the battery capacities of the devices. We do not anticipate the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro to be worse than the screens.

Triple back on Pixel 8 Pro

Since the Pixel smartphones have always placed a priority on excellent camera quality, we don’t anticipate this changing for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro even though there haven’t been any specific rumours regarding the camera specifications of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, a report suggests that the Pixel 8 or 8 Pro may be able to offer staggered HDR, which would indicate a new sensor.

A 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor make up the dual rear cameras on the Pixel 7 at the moment. In contrast, the Pixel 7 Pro includes the same configuration and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.
